Katie Lavers

Katie Lavers is a conceptor, director and producer of multimedia circus work. As a co-founder of the Australian performance group, Skadada, her shows have toured throughout Australia and Asia to great acclaim and have represented Australia in its cultural diplomatic initiatives in both China and India. Her work Electronic Big Top was the first international show to be presented at the iconic Shanghai Circus World in Shanghai,China and was chosen to open the 4th Shanghai, China International Arts Festival.

Katie has a long history of successful collaboration with artists across different art forms. Her training in visual arts and multimedia gives her a strong interest in the interplay between different elements within shows.

She has given workshops throughout Australia and has been artist-in-residence at numerous colleges, universities and arts centers including the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Perth, Australia, and The Powerhouse in Brisbane, Australia. She has received numerous grants for the research and development of new work from both the Australia Council and ArtsWA in Western Australia.

Katie is a PhD Candidate through WAAPA (Edith Cowan University).

Members of the group are regular collaborators engaged in an ongoing conversation. They regularly attend Working Group meetings in Montreal or elsewhere and are expected to give at least one talk a year or to act as respondents to colleagues' papers.
